Season feed plan

An estimate of the feed your stock will need from stocking to harvest: stage by stage, which grade, how many bags, and a week-by-week schedule.

Feed type

From a DO meter or test kit, ideally at dawn.

Estimate only. Assumes steady growth, comfortable water temperature and losses spread evenly across the season. Real ponds vary: always feed to what the fish clear in 20–30 minutes, and cut back in cold water or low oxygen.

What to buy over the season

  • Floating Fish Feed - Starter 32/612 × 35 kg (~401 kg)
  • Floating Fish Feed - Grower 28/536 × 35 kg (~1,241 kg)

Check the bag sizes each grade comes in on its product page; buy a few weeks ahead rather than the whole season at once, so feed stays fresh.

Oxygen rule for today’s feed

Enter today’s dissolved oxygen to see which rule applies.

  • Comfortable5 mg/L or moreFeed the full planned ration.
  • Low4 to 5 mg/LFeed about 75% of the ration and watch the fish.
  • Very low3 to 4 mg/LFeed about half, run the aerators, and test again.
  • Criticalbelow 3 mg/LDo not feed. Aerate now and call your advisor.

General guidance, not a rule for every pond. Species differ — air-breathing catfish cope with lower oxygen, but uneaten feed still spoils the water. If in doubt, ask your advisor or fisheries officer.

Week by week

Expected average size mid-week and the feed that size needs. Re-weigh a sample every two weeks and follow your fish, not the calendar.
