FCR calculator

Feed conversion ratio is the feed you gave divided by the weight your fish gained. It tells you how much feed each kilogram of fish cost you — the same calculation the Zoventa Advisor uses.

How do you know the growth?

Stock weight = number of fish × average weight in grams ÷ 1,000. Weigh a sample of 20–30 fish for the average, and use feed and growth from the same period.

Feed conversion ratio (FCR)

1.50

1,500 kg of feed ÷ 1,000 kg of growth

Your fish used 1.50 kg of feed for every kilogram they grew. A lower FCR means less feed, and less feed cost, for each kilogram of fish.

FCR rises when fish are overfed, when feed is left uneaten, when water is too cold or too hot, or when oxygen runs low. Fish that die during the period also push it up, since the feed they ate is not in the harvest.

Want to know what is driving your FCR? The advisor can look at your feeding, species and water conditions with you.
